Goodbye Farewell Amen

This is the End
My only friend, the end.....
Well it's not as desperate as all that.
After a slow start I have gained a great enthusiasm. So much so that my children are sick of me showing them my blog and taking about my findings. I'm sure my 14 year old will love fickr, knowing how to post her YouTube clips to her site, or the link to blogmusik, or librarything, or RSS feeds, or games sites...why does she roll her eyes and lock herself in her room???Why won't she listen to me??? I think she's shocked that I know anything that is remotely cool or technical or useful. I'm sure I saw that interested glint in her eye when I showed her how to put a clip in her site???
Thanks to all involved for organising this!

Audio Books

Listened to the Hound of the Baskervilles read by a human voice...human voice vs computer voice. Interesting decision.

Podcasts

Podcasts are great! I have some podcasts in my Itunes library, so I've been familiar with this. I've saved a feed from the teenlibrarian to my computer. I can see it as useful to libraries, perhaps a bit like a library blog. Talking to teens or podcasting author talks or training sessions. Hmmmm...podcasts...the possibilities are endless.

Week 9 - Youtube

Sorry I skipped ahead...enthusiasam got the better of me! For my YouTube clips see below!

Week 8-Discovering Web 2.0 Award Sites

Discovering the new sites was interesting.

I wanted a music sharing tool for my blog, but didn't like the ones suggested so I stole Nick's site from his blog! Thanks Nick. Will add more songs when I download my ipod into it.

Checked out http://www.cocktailbuilder.com/. What's not to like about this. I feel thirsty already! Is it 5 o'clock yet???

As you can see I loved http://www.librarything.com/. See bookshelf on right.

http://www.games2web.com/ I remember playing Space Invaders all through teachers college...I am old! So now you can play too...scroll to the bottom of this page to have a go!

I feel sooo guilty!! This is fun!

Week 8 ZOHO Writer

I quite like this. I like the idea of being able to have my documents at my fingertips without remembering to bring a disc etc. Quite a useful tool. Who thinks up this stuff!!!????

Thanks Deb

Yesterday I really made a conserted effort to get through this program....so in the middle of waiting for the holiday program to be designed etc I travelled through Wikis, RSS feeds, Del .icio. us us etc etc etc. Loved all those ideas, but secretly thought..."More usernames, passwords, email authentication...am I going to visit these sites again?"
This morning I chatted to Deb, who told me that I could place my RSS feeds onto my internet explorer, so I could see them when I was online! Well what she may have thought was simple, finally put it together for me! Thanks Deb.
I now know that i can have feeds on my Internet Explorer favourites! (Not just through Bloglines)
I now know that I have my favourites bookmarked at Del.icio.us
I now know how to place my favourite YouTube clips on to my blog
I now think I will spend a bit more time on my facebook site...and put all this enthusiasm into a site I can share with my friends.

On to the end of the program!

del.icio.us

I loved del.icio.us. I'm always frustrated when I use different computers that my favourites are lost...so now the perfect solution. Thanks!

Week 5 -Fun and Games!

The Blackadder Quote Generator! Nice...

Blackadder: "We live in an age where illness and deformity are commonplace, and yet, Ploppy, you are, without a doubt, the most repulsive individual I have ever met. I would shake your hand, but I fear it would come off. "

RSS Feeds

Finally got to RSS feeds...creating the Blogline account and have added the feeds for the Nine Msn news headlines, and some other sites I check regularly.

Don't know how much I'll use it, but the concept is interesting!

On to Week 5!

Joe Flanigan - a little Stargate chat

OMG 3 blogs in one day! I'm sure there will be a long dry spell before the next one!

Spent a great day on Sunday... did a very unCenza thing. Took 2 of my girls to Melb Exhibition Centre for Armageddon:the Comic Expo. My kids love Stargate Atlantis and wanted to meet Joe Flanigan, the US actor who was attending the expo on Sunday. I'm a good mother, who was I to say no to "meeting" a very cute guy. "Of course I'll take you!" "Of course I'll stand in a queue for 3 hours" "of course I'll stand next to a six foot something very attractive actor and have my photo taken while he put his arm around me" I tell you all, being a mother is a tough job! Got a lovely photo which of course looks like a family portrait, very cute guy (see above) with myself and 2 children...our new family photo!

Constantly thinking how do these people do this? He landed in Australia at 8am. Hurried through customs, taken to hotel room, arrives at venue at 11am, photos, autographs and chat until 6pm, dinner with fans in the evening. I asked him how long he was staying and he said he was off to Byron Bay surfing on Monday and then to New Zealand on the 22nd October. Some of the other actors were only in the country for 3 or 4 days.

Also met the guy who played "the Source" (AKA the source of all evil)in the tv series Charmed who signed an autograph for my 9 year old "To Gemma. BEHAVE! Listen to the Source". For anyone who's heard me talk to my darling cheeky girl on the phone as she creates havoc at home...you will really understand this.

Also met Alan Tudyk, from - Serenity / I Robot / Dodgeball / A Knights Tale/ and the new movie Death at a Funeral. Very nice guy-great with the kids and happy to chat!

So now I know how to add photos to my blog!

Cheers til next time!

Ella's ticklish toes!

"This Little piggy went to market"....ahhh the role of the "funny aunty". This is a real novelty for me. Ella always graps a book and reverses onto my lap for a story! Very cute!

Flickr

OK OK Already! I've finally added another blog! I've Flickr'd and added a photo of my niece Ella and I playing "This little piggy went to market!" A very appropriate picture for anyone involved in Youth Services!

I hope it won't take as long for me to post the next exciting installment in the Life of Cen.

Blogging

This my first blog. Seems strange as I'm not one for keeping a diary. Looking forward to "posting" without walking to the letter box.
